IN THE SAC utilizes Shopify powered by the Gorilla Wholesale app to manage its wholesale (trade) customer operations. The Gorilla Wholesale integration enables a completely separate, dedicated wholesale experience alongside their standard store. This system handles customer registration and approval, exclusive wholesale pricing display, product access control, and a streamlined B2B checkout process. As a result, approved trade customers can log in, view wholesale prices, place bulk orders, and automatically receive accurate trade shipping rates (such as a $35 AUD flat rate within Australia).

Challenge

Managing trade or wholesale business on a standard Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) e-commerce platform presents several key hurdles:

  • Access Control: Restricting wholesale pricing and trade-only products from general retail shoppers without needing a completely separate website.
  • Manual Onboarding Overhead: Managing B2B account applications, verifying business credentials, and manually granting customer permissions.
  • Complex Pricing & Shipping: Delivering custom wholesale price tiers and trade-specific shipping rules (e.g., flat-rate shipping for bulk trade orders) seamlessly at checkout.

Solution

Wholesale Customer Experience & Flow

The wholesale journey begins when a prospective trade customer visits inthesac.com.au and navigates to the Trade / Wholesale section. From there, the user completes an online wholesale registration form powered by Gorilla Wholesale to initiate their account request.

Once submitted, IN THE SAC reviews the application and verifies the applicant’s business credentials. Upon verification, the trade account is approved, and the customer receives an automated notification granting them access to the trade portal.

After logging into their approved wholesale account via Gorilla Wholesale, the trade client gains full access to browse exclusive wholesale products with trade pricing and specific purchasing rules clearly displayed. The customer selects their desired items, adds them to the cart, and proceeds through a tailored Shopify checkout experience where wholesale pricing and applicable trade shipping rates (such as a $35 AUD flat rate for Australian destinations) are automatically applied.

Finally, the order is routed directly into IN THE SAC’s Shopify admin for internal processing. Once packed and dispatched, the trade customer receives a shipment confirmation email complete with tracking details.
